Impression

Hello again..

Now, now.. I know that I haven't updated for a while...I have been busy (and yeah it's a lame excuse but it's true). Ward work and assignment caught most of my free time but now, I'm on my break, I just finished my first posting and it was awesome!

My first posting is Surgery which is the coolest posting ever. I get to do tonnes of stuff and its tiring like hell. However, it was well worth it.

The House Officer (HO) at the surgical ward was cool as heck. They were very kind and helpful. I guess they realise how hard it is to start clinical years with surgical posting, so they love helping us and giving us a few pointers and tips.

It's not like he is discouraging us, it's just that it is hard for them and we have seen it first hand. It's very hard to be a doctor. The money we make? It's not well worth it. My advice to students who aspiring to learn medicine is to really consider it...consider it hard.

To those of you who didn't know, House Office aka houseman are like Interns in the US. They have to train for 2 years and later become Medical Officer aka MO. Then, they will decide to specialise in whatever discipline they want.

Brilliant advice to new students :P

I hope he didn't put you off, and your lack of posts is because you are really busy, rather than because you took his advice and fled!

I'm a med student too and I've heard this so many times. In the end it's about what YoU really want to do, not about what others say. All the best! :)
